Do I need prior knowledge of Lean or Six Sigma?
No. Several of our courses are suitable for anyone who wants to learn systematic problem solving and improvement, regardless of experience.
Which courses are right for me if I am new to Lean and want to get started with improvement?
Start with Systematic Problem Solving, Yellow Belt, or a Lean course. If you are comfortable with courses in English, our partner GLSS offers good online alternatives. These give you the foundational tools without requiring prior knowledge.
What is the difference between Yellow Belt, Green Belt, and Black Belt?
Yellow Belt teaches you to solve problems systematically. You work on a real problem from your own organisation and receive support and feedback over one month. Suitable for anyone who wants a structured problem-solving method, regardless of role.
Green Belt goes deeper: you learn to lead improvement projects, analyse flow, and understand variation. The project is typically scoped to your own department or process. Green Belt projects deliver an average of $213,000 in savings per project (source: GLSS).
Black Belt is for those who want to lead complex improvement projects across departments and functions. You develop deeper analytical and statistical skills, and you learn to lead and coach Yellow and Green Belt resources. Black Belt is often a full-time role in larger organisations.
I have a problem in my organisation — which course is right for me?
If you know you want to learn systematic problem solving or a specific tool (SPC, MSA, Value Stream Mapping), choose the course that matches your need.
If you have a concrete problem you want to solve now and are not sure which method fits best, Process Improvement is the right choice. This is a unique course where you work on your own problem as a team, while learning the methods you actually need along the way. You get both training and coaching while solving the problem — the fastest path from problem to solution.
Can I take the courses even if I don't work in manufacturing?
Yes. Lean and Six Sigma work in all industries: healthcare, construction, the public sector, IT. The methods are about processes, not products.
Will I receive a certification or a course certificate?
Belt courses (Yellow Belt, Green Belt, Black Belt) include certification when you complete your own problem-solving process or improvement project. Online courses include a course certificate upon passing the test. Other courses include a course certificate upon completion.
Certification: The Yellow Belt course includes certification — you become certified by completing a structured problem-solving process during the course period (1 month). For Green Belt and Black Belt certification, you must complete an improvement project with mandatory coaching and project approval. Coaching ensures you receive professional support throughout the process and that the project follows the methodology (not included in the course price).
How much time do I need to set aside?
It varies by course. Online courses take 1–3 hours (GLSS online courses take 2–8 hours). Classroom courses run 1–3 days. Yellow, Green, and Black Belt certification also requires work outside of course hours to complete your own problem-solving process or improvement project (1 month for Yellow Belt, up to 12 months for Green and Black Belt).
What if I don't manage to complete in time?
For online courses, you have access for 1 year. For Yellow Belt, we follow up throughout the one-month course period. Some participants complete the final part of their problem solving without coaching after the course ends, and that is fine (they still receive certification). For Green Belt and Black Belt, you have up to twelve months to complete your project, with follow-up along the way.
What is the difference between the analytical courses (SPC, MSA, Value Stream Mapping)?
I see courses in the overview without a date. When do they run?
Courses without a date are scheduled based on interest. Register your interest via the course page and we will be in touch when we plan the next course.
What about the GoLeanSixSigma (GLSS) courses?
The GLSS courses (Yellow Belt, Green Belt, Black Belt, Champion) are online courses from our international partner GoLeanSixSigma. When you pay for access, you get access to all four belt courses and additional courses. The courses are in English, include certification, and award PDUs (Professional Development Units).
What is a PDU?
PDU stands for Professional Development Units — credits required to maintain certifications from the Project Management Institute (PMI), one of the world's leading organisations for project management. If you hold a PMI certification (such as PMP or CAPM), you must document ongoing professional development to keep it active. GLSS courses are approved as PDU-earning, meaning you can use them to meet this requirement.
Even if you do not hold a PMI certification today, PDU eligibility may be valuable if you plan to pursue one in the future.
What is the difference between Lean Tech belt courses and the GLSS courses?
GLSS courses are English-language self-study online courses without personal follow-up — effective for learning the methodology at your own pace and gaining an international certification. Lean Tech belt courses include classroom days, online sessions and personal coaching while you solve a real problem in your own organisation. You are paying for closer support, hands-on learning and documented results — not just course content.
The two offerings serve different needs and complement each other well. Many start with GLSS for a quick introduction and take Lean Tech belt courses as the next step when they are ready to apply the methodology in practice.
After registering, you will receive an invoice within 1 business day. When invoice is paid you get access to the e-learning.
You have access to the training for 1 year and have unlimited number of attempts to pass the certification exam (if relevant).
Booking is binding. If you are prevented from participating yourself, a colleague can take your place free of charge.
If you cancel later than 30 days before the event, 50% of the participation fee will be charged.
If canceled less than 5 business days prior to the course, full participation fee is charged.
Unfortunately, sick leave does not give you reimbursement of participation fee, contact your insurance company regarding this.
Any cancellation must be in writing to
To arrange the course the minimum number of participants must enroll (minimum number of participants is stated in the course description). If not enough participants have enrolled, the paid course fee will be refunded.
Lean Tech cannot be held financially liable for any cancellation caused by Force Majeure. In such events, a new time is set in consultation with the course participants.
